Our Story

For more than a decade, Relieve Humanity has been at work. Here’s how it all started!

In the summer of 2012, Ahmad Rahman traveled to Karachi, Pakistan. During his visit, he witnessed the challenges of the healthcare system firsthand. While he could easily access treatment and medication due to his financial privilege, he couldn’t help but think about those less fortunate. It became evident to him that people unable to afford medical care faced agonizing choices between personal well-being and family, illness and hunger, pain and survival.

This profound realization led to the establishment of Relieve Humanity on July 18, 2012, as a registered not-for-profit organization in Ontario, Canada. Relieve Humanity initiated the Shifa Welfare Free Medical Centre in Orangi, a destitute suburb of Karachi, Pakistan—one of the world’s most impoverished areas. In December 2017, we further extended our mission by inaugurating the Ehsaan Trust Hospital in Faisalabad, Pakistan.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “The most beloved deed to Allah is the most regular and constant even if it were little.”
Sahih al-Bukhari
